There were many fitting attributes and compliments paid to Maeve Binchy following her passing last week.
I really liked one of her own comments from the documentary on RTE television. It was widely known that she and her husband, fellow author Gordon Snell, could not have children. In the documentary, Maeve made a recommendation to all those with children to "share them", and not just at communions, birthday parties, weddings and Christmas but "include us in the bad days too" she suggested.
We think this is a lovely tip and reminder to everyone to share their children with those who have none, or whose children have flown the nest, and in particular, to share your children with those who may struggle to get out of the house to go visiting themselves, for whatever reason. A visit from anyone, in particular, children of all ages, might brighten up some-one'sday - and it doesnt have to be a special occasion.
