Visiting someone this year, why not bring some homemade soup and brown bread?

Kevin's homemade soup
1 Onion
600g Vegetables (300g Carrots and 300g Turnips)
1.2 litres of Vegetable Stock
1/2 teaspoon of Dried Corriander
Cooking Instructions
Chop and Cook all the vegetables in vegetable stock. Add more water if necessary
Add a sprinkle of dried corriander to the vegetables and liquidise them
Add 1/2 pint of cream for flavour if you wish
Rachel Allen's simple brown bread
400g Wholemeal Flour
100g Plain White Flour
1 teaspoon of Biocarbonate Soda
1 teaspoon of Salt
400ml Buttermilk
2 table spoons Sunflower Oil
1 Egg
1 teaspoon Trecale
Cooking Instructions
Mix all the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl
Mix all the liquid ingredients into the dried ingredients
Pour the ingredients into a greased baking tin
Put in the oven for 50 minutes at 170 C
After 45 minutes take the bread out of the oven and place on a wire rack upside down in the oven for the last 5 minutes
To check if the bread is cooked after 50 minutes tap the base of it. If the bread makes a hollow sound it is cooked.
