Enhancing Care Through Practical Training
At Private HomeCare, we combine nearly four decades of experience with the QQI curriculum to provide high-quality, hands-on training for our carers. We recognise that well-trained carers are the foundation of exceptional home care, ensuring clients receive the safest and most effective support possible.
Our latest investment includes essential mobility support equipment, such as a full-body hoist and a ‘Sara Stedy.’ Many clients rely on these aids, making it crucial for carers to be proficient in their use. Practical training provides carers with the confidence and skills to handle patient moving and handling tasks safely and effectively. This training also prepares carers for various real-life scenarios, ensuring they can respond appropriately to clients’ evolving needs.
Sara Stedy
The Sara Stedy is a versatile piece of equipment designed to assist clients with moderate mobility challenges. It enables safe and supported standing transfers, reducing strain on both the client and the carer. By using this aid, clients can retain as much independence as possible while receiving the necessary support. The Sara Stedy also improves the efficiency of transfers, reducing the risk of injury for both parties.
Through hands-on training, carers learn how to use the Sara Stedy correctly, ensuring smooth and secure transitions for clients who need assistance. This training covers essential aspects such as positioning, weight distribution, and client engagement to make the process comfortable and dignified.
Full-Body Hoist
The full-body hoist is essential for clients with limited or no mobility. As it requires two carers to operate safely, our training emphasises proper communication and coordination. Effective teamwork is crucial in ensuring a seamless and secure transfer process, preventing discomfort or potential injury.
Carers practice using the hoist under supervision, allowing them to build confidence before assisting clients. Training focuses on key techniques such as harness placement, safe lifting protocols, and understanding the different types of hoists available. By mastering these skills, carers can ensure that clients are moved with care and dignity.
Many clients currently use a full-body hoist, and others may require one in the future as their mobility changes. It is therefore essential that all carers are trained in its operation, ensuring they are always prepared to provide the best possible care.
Once a client’s needs are assessed, necessary equipment is provided by the HSE. Our role is to ensure carers can use it correctly, reinforcing our commitment to high-quality care. We believe that preparation and training are key to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
Committed to Excellence in Training
By staying up to date with modern equipment and training, we ensure both carers and clients benefit from the safest, most effective care. Regular training sessions help carers refresh their skills and adapt to new advancements in mobility support.
At Private HomeCare, we take pride in our dedication to professional development. Our well-trained carers provide reliable, compassionate, and expert support tailored to each client’s needs, ensuring they receive the highest level of care at all times.
