The Lucan Centre (Theory & Practical)
Patient Moving and Handling courses are run regularly throughout the year. Anyone can sign up. There are no computers, no assignments, no work experience and no prep needed! It’s a demonstration and skills course only. All training materials are provided.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the People Handling training module, you will be able to:
- Outline People Handling legislation that applies to both the employer and employee
- Describe the anatomy of the spine, muscular system and mechanisms of injury
- Detail was is involved in the ergonomic risk assessment
- Outline the principles of safe manual handling and people handling
- Practice the safe handling of loads (boxes, tables etc..)
- Practice the safe handling of clients including the use of relevant aids and equipment.
- Explain and demonstrate the correct use of the hoist.
